Jill Sharpe

Jill finds inspiration both in pattern repetitions and variations and in shapes derived from nature. She develops her designs from sketches and photographs, and from found images. Colour is a particularly important element in Jill's work and she enjoys exploring both its subtle and dramatic uses. Working in a variety of hand dyed and commercial silk and cotton fabrics Jill combines different weights and textures alongside hand and machine techniques to achieve the desired effect. 'I am fascinated by the transformation that occurs when fabric is quilted and it achieves a body and texture of its own.' Jill accepts commissions and also teaches and give talks on Patchwork and Quilting.
