Janet Sparke

Janet spent four years at the Norfolk Institute of Art and Design studying surface pattern and art, then completed courses in Graphic Art, Photography and Teacher Training. Her work reflects her wide range of interests, she often combines tecniques from different disciplines to create experimental pieces.The last two years have been spent working on a series of enlarged pastels of everyday objects as well as some textile pieces. Currently Janet is spending a lot more time on photographs; some digitally manipulated, painted over and collaged with fabric and wire.The process of experimentation is as important to her as the final piece, quite often she allows the piece to evolve to its conclusion believing that 'one can achieve better quality and more original pieces by not having a finished idea in mind but by allowing the work to develop.'
